Golden Globe Awards 2014 show (NBC) or The Tina and Amy Show was co-hosted by comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Golden Globe Awards were presented for some of the best movies, actors, actresses, TV series, directors, screenplays, and movie scores of 2013. The presenters of the Golden Globes included stars like Kevin Bacon, Mila Kunis, Drew Barrymore, Sandra Bullock, Orlando Bloom, Jim Carrey, Matt Damon, Sean Combs, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jimmy Fallon, Robert Downey, Jr., and many more. Tina Fey came onstage wearing an elegant red gown, and Amy Poehler was wearing a beautiful blue gown. It was the second time for the pair to co-host the Golden Globe Awards. Last year, they helped bring in 20 million viewers, and this year, that record might be broken. The duo joked about Matt Damon, Meryl Streep, Martin Scorsese, Dee Bradley Cooper, Julia Louise-Dreyfus, Woody Allen, George Clooney, Jonah Hill, Tom Hanks, and others, and the camera panned to them, as Tina Fey and Amy mentioned their names. Other series they joked about included Orange Is the New Black and Masters of Sex, which Amy said was the degree she got from the University of Boston. And the Winners of the Golden Globe Awards Were…. The Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress was the first one presented. The nominees were Sally Hawkins as Ginger in Blue Jasmine, Jennifer Lawrence as Rosalyn Rosenfeld in American Hustle, Lupita Nyong’o as Patsey in 12 Years a Slave, Julia Roberts as Barbara Weston-Fordham in August: Osage County, and June Squibb as Kate Grant in Nebraska. My pick for the winner was Julia Roberts, but the award was won by Jennifer Lawrence for her acting in American Hustle. The Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries was next. It went to Behind the Candelabra, HBO. This is a category I didn’t make a prediction about, though I likely would have picked American Horror Story. The Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress Miniseries/TV movie went to Jacqueline Bisset for Dancing on the Edge. I didn’t chose anyone in this category in the predictions I made in an earlier article. The next Golden Globe Award was for Best Performance in a Miniseries or Television Film, Actress. Some of the actresses nominated were Helena Bonham Carter as Elizabeth Taylor in Burton & Taylor, Rebecca Ferguson as Elizabeth Woodville in The White Queen, Jessica Lange as Fiona Goode in American Horror Story: Coven, Helen Mirren as Linda Kenney Baden in Phil Spector, and Elisabeth Moss as Robin Griffin in Top of the Lake. It went to Elizabeth Moss for her performance in Top of the Lake. I had picked Jessica Lange to be the winner for her performance in American Horror Story. Now, I’m 0 for 2. Matt Damon came onstage and spoke about the movie Captain Phillips, up for the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture, Drama. We got to see a clip from the movie. The Golden Globe for Best Performance in a Television Series, Drama, Actor. The nominees were Bryan Cranston as Walter White in Breaking Bad, Michael Sheen as Bill Masters in Masters of Sex, Liev Schreiber as Ray Donovan in Ray Donovan, Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood in House of Cards, and James Spader as Raymond Reddington in The Blacklist. I predicted that the winner would be Bryan Cranston, and the winner was Bryan Cranston! Now, I’m 1 for 3 in my predictions. This was perhaps a no-brainer, though, as Cranston gave such great performances throughout the last season of Breaking Bad. Then came the Golden Globe award for Best Television Drama. The nominees were Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, The Good Wife, House of Cards, and Masters of Sex. The winner I selected was Breaking Bad,and the Golden Globe went to Breaking Bad. Vince Gilligan accepted the award. now, I’m 2 for 4 in the predictions I made. The Golden Globe Award for Best Original Musical Score was next. It went to Alex Ebert for All Is Lost. I didn’t make a prediction in this category. The Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture went to “Ordinary Love” by U2 from Mandela. I didn’t make a prediction for this category, either, though I really like the music of U2, and it’s a great song. The Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Drama went to Jon Voight for his performances in the series Ray Donovan. I didn’t make any predictions for this particular Golden Globe Award. Robert Downey, Jr. presented the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, Actress. The five nominees were Amy Adams as Sydney Prosser in American Hustle, Julie Delpy as Celine Wallace in Before Midnight, Greta Gerwig as Frances Halladay in Frances Ha, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Eva in Enough Said, and Meryl Streep as Violet Weston in August: Osage County. My prediction was that the winner would be Meryl Streep, though Amy Adams was the actual winner. That brings me to 2 for 5 on my predictions. The Golden Globe for Best Performance in a Television Series, Drama, Actress category were Julianna Margulies as Alicia Florrick in The Good Wife, Tatiana Maslany as various characters in Orphan Black, Taylor Schilling as Piper Chapman in Orange is the New Black, Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope in Scandal, and Robin Wright as Claire Underwood in House of Cards. My pick was Kerry Washington, but the award went to Robin Wright for House of Cards. Now, I’m 2 for 6. Chris Frantz presented the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama, Musical or Comedy were Barkhad Abdi as Abduwali Muse in Captain Phillips, Daniel as Niki Lauda Bruhl in Rush, Bradley Cooper as Richie DiMasso in American Hustle, Michael Fassbender as Edwin Epps in 12 Years a Slave, and Jared Leto as Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club. I predicted that the winner would be Dee Bradley Cooper. The Golden Globe award went, instead, to Jared Leto. That brings my total to just 2 of 7 correct. Not doing so good with my prognostications tonight — blah — great show so far, though. The Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Sreenplay was next. I didn’t select a winner in this category. The Golden Globe award went to Spike Jonze for Her. The Golden Globe Award for Best Performance in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy, Actor, the nominees were Jason Bateman as Michael Bluth in Arrested Development, Don Cheadle as Marty Kaan in House of Lies, Michael J. Fox as Mike Henry in The Michael J. Fox Show, Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory, and Andy Samberg as Jake Peralta in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I said that Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory would be the winner. Instead, Andy Samberg won. My predictions now are at just 2 for 8. I’m sure the rest of my predictions will pan out, though…. The Golden Globe for the Best Foreign Language Film was another category I didn’t select a winner for. The movie which won was the Italian movie, The Great Beauty. Jimmy Fallon and Melissa McCarthy presented the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance in a Miniseries or Television Film, Actor, the nominees are Matt Damon as Scott Thorson in Behind the Candelabra, Michael Douglas as Liberace in Behind the Candelabra, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Louis Lester in Dancing on the Edge, Idris Elba as John Luther in Luther, and Al Pacino as Phil Spector in Phil Spector. I didn’t select a winner, but the winner was Michael Douglas. The Golden Globe for the Best Animated Featured Film were The Croods, Despicable Me 2, and Frozen. I predicted that the winner would be Despicable Me 2, just because it has so far made the most at the box office of these three animated flicks. However, Frozen won, bringing my total of correct predictions to just 2 of 9. The five nominees for the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy, Actress, are: Zooey Deschanel as Jessica “Jess” Day in New Girl, Lena Dunham as Hannah Norvath in Girls, Edie Falco as Jackie Peyton in Nurse Jackie, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Vice President Selina Meyer in Veep, and Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope in Parks and Recreation. They are all great choices, but I said that the winner would be Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Another prediction incorrect, as the actual winner was Amy Poehler for Parks and Recreation. It was her first win. I’m still stuck at making just 2 correct predictions — now, I’m 2 for 10. Emma Stone presented the special Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award for Best Director. She presented it to Woody Allen. We got to see some great clips from past Woody Allen movies, like Annie Hall, Play It Again, Sam, Take the Money and Run, The Purple Rose of Cairo, and Bananas. Diane Keaton (Annie Hall) also spoke about Woody Allen, and she accepted the award for him. She said she has known Allen for 45 years. Keaton even sang a song about being friends, as she considers him to be one of her best friends. Ben Affleck presented the Golden Globe Award for Best Director of a Motion Picture. I didn’t make a prediction, but the winner was Alphonso Cuaron for directing Gravity. Chris Evans and Uma Thurmon were the presenters of the the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series Musical or Comedy. The nominees were: The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Girls, Modern Family, and Parks and Recreation. While I really love Parks and Recreation, I said that the winner would be another favorite of mine, The Big Bang Theory. The Golden Globe went to Brooklyn Nine-Nine, though. I don’t think I will keep up with the few predictions that are left, as I am not doing well at all with them…. The five nominees for the Golden Globe Award Best Performance in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, Actor, were Christian Bale as Irving Rosenfeld in American Hustle, Bruce Dern as Woody Grant in Nebraska, Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street, Oscar Isaac as Llewyn Davis in Inside Llewyn Davis, and Joaquin Phoenix as Theodore Twombly in Her. This was a difficult choice for me, but I said that the winner would be Joaquin Phoenix. The Golden Globe went to Leonardo DiCaprio, though. Drew Barrymore presented the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. There were five films nominated: American Hustle, Her, Inside Llewyn Davis, Nebraska, and The Wolf of Wall Street. I said that this award would be won by American Hustle, and that is the movie which won. That brings my total correct predictions of the night to 3 — I’m on fire. Next, Leonardo DiCaprio presented the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance in a Motion Picture, Drama, Female. The women nominated were Cate Blanchett as Jeanette “Jasmine” Francis in Blue Jasmine, Sandra Bullock as Dr. Ryan Stone in Gravity, Judi Dench as Philomena Lee in Philomena, Emma Thompson as P.L Travers in Saving Mr. Banks, and Kate Winslet as Adele Wheeler in Labor Day. I will say that the winner will be Sandra Bullock. The winner was, instead, Kate Blanchett. The Golden Globe Award for Best Performance in a Motion Picture, Drama, Actor was presented next. The nominees were Chiwetel Ejiofor for his performance as Solomon Northup in 12 Years a Slave, Idris Elba as Mandela in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Tom Hanks as Captain Richard Phillips in Captain Phillips, Matthew McConaughey as Ron Woodroof in Dallas Buyers Club, and Robert Redford as Our Man in All Is Lost. I predicted that the winner would be Tom Hanks. Instead, the award went to Matthew McConaughey. Jonny Depp presented the final Golden Globe Award, the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture, Drama. There were five movies nominated: 12 Years a Slave, Captain Phillips, Gravity, Philomena, and Rush. Gravity could very well win this award, but I said that 12 Years a Slave would win this award.And the winner was: 12 Years a Slave! Yes! That was my fourth correct prediction of the night. The 71st. Golden Globe Awards show, co-hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, was fantastic, IMHO, despite my terrible rate at predicting the winners. I hope that your predictions were more accurate than mine.
