HomeNewsInvestigativeNeighborhoodsStatePoliticsU.S. Published: Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, 11:39 p.m. Buddhist monks in wool robes of gold and burgundy rang bells, shook hand drums and chanted prayers in Tibetan as they prepared to make a sand painting symbolizing compassion and the temporary nature of life. Two monks with shaved heads sat around a 3-foot-square table on Sunday in the Spinning Plate Gallery in East Liberty and meticulously poured colored sand into a circular drawing offering a bird's eye view of a mandala — a symbol for the universe. The monks were so careful, they donned surgical masks so their breaths would not disturb a grain of sand. “It's aspiring (to be) a spiritual experience, compassion, so hopefully, anybody who comes and witnesses it will have a spiritual experience, whereby they share that compassion with others,” said Mark Oliver, president of the board of directors of the Three Rivers Tibetan Cultural Center in Oakland, sponsor of the ceremony. The monks will continue working on the sand painting all week. “When's it's complete, it's incredible to look at,” said John Bogaard, 56, of Braddock, one of 33 people who witnessed the ceremony. “It gives you that wow factor. This marks the first time that Bogaard, a senior student with the cultural center, witnessed the hour-long opening of a mandala ceremony. It's the first one held by this center. Buddhism is estimated to have 350 million followers around the world, making it the fourth-largest religion. About 1.2 million Buddhists live in the United States, according to the Census Bureau. The cultural center, one of about 20 Buddhist groups in Allegheny County, has about 30 regular visitors. The central tenet of the Buddhist path is living one's path honestly, ethically and with moderation and awareness of the needs of others. Incense burned as the monks — Khempo Choephel of the cultural center and Lama Konchok Sonam of Boston — waved their hands and chanted prayers to purify the space from negative energy. The monks spent days tracing the mandala. The ceremony entailed the painting of the inner circle — the Tibetan syllable “hri” representing compassion — on lotus leaves. Each monk dipped a long cone into containers with at least 10 colors of sand and painstakingly dribbled the grains inside the outline by rubbing a metal stick over the grooves of the cone. If a grain landed outside the proper color, the monk carefully swept it back. Jonnie Viakley, 63, a Buddhist from Oakmont, witnessed the ceremony with her friend, Laura Smith of Highland Park, who is not a Buddhist. Viakley called the practice of mandala from Tibet profound. “That we're able to share in that practice is a real gift,” she said. “I thought the intentions behind it were very beautiful,” Smith said. “It'll be a nice way for me to get into my yoga tonight. Bogaard said the monks, who worked so carefully over the sand painting, will sweep it up at 11 a.m. Saturday, take it to The Point in a procession and pour it into the Ohio River. “It's a demonstration of impermanence,” he said. Eileen Harrigan remembers the thrill of being at her daughter's graduation from the Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May. And Harrigan, a former Coastie herself from Galloway Township, wants to help other mothers share that happy day with their sons and daughters. That's why she joined and supports the Coast Guard Mom in Need Fund, a group whose mission is helping mothers from across the country get to South Jersey for boot-camp graduation day. Mostly the group, which started in 2011 in response to one California mom's message saying she couldn't afford the trip, raises money to help parents pay their way to Cape May. But Harrigan goes one step further - or closer to the families - by welcoming the mothers to stay at her house, an hour or so up the Garden State Parkway from the Training Center. She hosted her latest proud mom Friday, when Catherine Henry, of Port Richey, Fla., stayed in Galloway to get to the Coast Guard graduation of her daughter, Jamie Smythe. "They had a great reunion. It was just perfect," said Harrigan, who is also vice commander of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 85, in Brigantine. "I love watching the parents and the Coasties get back together. It just makes my day. Seeing another ceremony at the Training Center brings back her own graduation day in Cape May, more than 35 years ago, when Harrigan was sworn in as an early full-time female recruit to the Coast Guard. It also reminds her of the day her daughter, Jessie Barringer, became part of a tradition that's important to Harrigan. "People have their colleges. They give back to their alma mater," said Harrigan, who works for the Pleasantville School District. "Well, this is my alma mater. The Mom in Need Fund just started in 2011, when Victoria Joy, the mother of a Coast Guard recruit from northern California, posted a Facebook message saying she couldn't get to the graduation ceremony for her son, Taj Schieve. Joy told a Coast Guard group she was in nursing school herself and money was tight, and asked if anyone could send her a picture of her son. "Everyone was talking about how wonderful it was to be at boot-camp graduation, and I said, 'That's very nice, but I can't go,'" Joy said in an interview. "And they, as a small group of women, put together money to buy me a flight to Cape May, put me up in a hotel" and found a local person to help her find her way around South Jersey. Since then, Joy - now a member of the Mom in Need Fund's organizing committee - says the group has helped about 30 mothers get to graduation, with average contributions of $500 each. The group, which has about 800 members, has raised that money in a variety of ways - including bake sales. But one regular fundraiser is to sell rubber bracelets, key chains and other items on the fund's public page: Facebook.com/ourmominneed. Joy adds that it has been a big help for the group to have a dedicated volunteer from the Coast Guard family not far from Cape May. "Having somebody there in New Jersey is a super plus for us," Joy said. "When I went there, I didn't know anybody. And when she left Cape May in 2011, she said, she'd learned that she had people she could count on around the Coast Guard. More important to her, her son did, too. "I heard the keynote speaker talk about the Coast Guard as a family, a small and elite group," she said. "I teared up at that, because my son is an only child. And I just felt so much better knowing he was going to be well-connected in this network. But I found out I am well-connected, too. Our mom's group is really awake and alert and has some experienced people in it. Back in South Jersey, the idea of a Coast Guard family was nothing new to Harrigan, which is one reason she was happy when her daughter joined about eight years ago. Barringer, who grew up in Galloway, is stationed in Alaska now after four years in Cape May. And she never had to doubt that her mom could get there to see her formally become part of the Coast Guard. Still, Barringer said in an email, "having my mom there at graduation was one of the best feelings in the world. For her to be able to see what I had accomplished in just 8 weeks was amazing. It was great to be able to look into the crowd and find her face there supporting me. Harrigan, too, thought that was a pretty special moment, which is why she said she wants to make sure other mothers can know that feeling. And she said just hosting two moms so far has helped expand her family a bit more. She's staying in touch with both women. Meat Industry Excellence (MIE) is calling on meat companies to walk the talk in regard to the fairness and transparency of their procurement practices. Chairman John McCarthy says that a number of examples of preferential pricing over and above payments made to loyal suppliers have been brought to group members’ attention during the past few weeks. McCarthy says, “Meat companies were quite vocal prior to the processing season about the need for farmers to commit their stock, which is also a founding principle of MIE. However, our members are receiving reports alleging that those same companies are enticing stock away from other companies with deals over and above those paid to their signed-up loyal suppliers. If this is proven, then it is unacceptable and adds to the lack of trust that so blights our industry. McCarthy added, “MIE will be particularly vigilant regarding the performance of the co-operatives. If we are to build on MIE's vision of having a strong farmer owned co-op as the cornerstone of the new industry into the future, then farmers will rightfully be demanding that co-operative principles of fairness and transparency in pricing be front and centre. “This situation also highlights the underlying issue of severe overcapacity that plagues the industry which, essentially, is in survival mode. Unless we can improve profitability at all levels of the red meat sector, and quickly, then we are in for a train wreck that can only be exacerbated by the shrinking supply base due to the continuation of land use change. McCarthy called upon industry leaders to redouble their efforts to find ways to work together for the common good. “The recent cooperative elections clearly demonstrated that the mood from farmers is for change. Companies need to recognise this as a significant opportunity instead of engaging in a game of last man standing. MIE will be working tirelessly across the whole sector and with Government to advance its objectives in the coming year. The presenters of the Golden Globes included stars like Kevin Bacon, Mila Kunis, Drew Barrymore, Sandra Bullock, Orlando Bloom, Jim Carrey, Matt Damon, Sean Combs, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jimmy Fallon, Robert Downey, Jr., and many more. Tina Fey came onstage wearing an elegant red gown, and Amy Poehler was wearing a beautiful blue gown. It was the second time for the pair to co-host the Golden Globe Awards. Last year, they helped bring in 20 million viewers, and this year, that record might be broken. The duo joked about Matt Damon, Meryl Streep, Martin Scorsese, Dee Bradley Cooper, Julia Louise-Dreyfus, Woody Allen, George Clooney, Jonah Hill, Tom Hanks, and others, and the camera panned to them, as Tina Fey and Amy mentioned their names. The Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress Miniseries/TV movie went to Jacqueline Bisset for Dancing on the Edge. I didn’t chose anyone in this category in the predictions I made in an earlier article. The next Golden Globe Award was for Best Performance in a Miniseries or Television Film, Actress. Some of the actresses nominated were Helena Bonham Carter as Elizabeth Taylor in Burton & Taylor, Rebecca Ferguson as Elizabeth Woodville in The White Queen, Jessica Lange as Fiona Goode in American Horror Story: Coven, Helen Mirren as Linda Kenney Baden in Phil Spector, and Elisabeth Moss as Robin Griffin in Top of the Lake. It went to Elizabeth Moss for her performance in Top of the Lake. I had picked Jessica Lange to be the winner for her performance in American Horror Story. Now, I’m 0 for 2. Matt Damon came onstage and spoke about the movie Captain Phillips, up for the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture, Drama. We got to see a clip from the movie. The Golden Globe for Best Performance in a Television Series, Drama, Actor. The nominees were Bryan Cranston as Walter White in Breaking Bad, Michael Sheen as Bill Masters in Masters of Sex, Liev Schreiber as Ray Donovan in Ray Donovan, Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood in House of Cards, and James Spader as Raymond Reddington in The Blacklist. I predicted that the winner would be Bryan Cranston, and the winner was Bryan Cranston! Now, I’m 1 for 3 in my predictions. This was perhaps a no-brainer, though, as Cranston gave such great performances throughout the last season of Breaking Bad. Then came the Golden Globe award for Best Television Drama. The nominees were Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, The Good Wife, House of Cards, and Masters of Sex. The winner I selected was Breaking Bad,and the Golden Globe went to Breaking Bad. Vince Gilligan accepted the award. now, I’m 2 for 4 in the predictions I made. The Golden Globe Award for Best Original Musical Score was next. It went to Alex Ebert for All Is Lost. I didn’t make a prediction in this category. The Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture went to “Ordinary Love” by U2 from Mandela. I didn’t make a prediction for this category, either, though I really like the music of U2, and it’s a great song. The Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Drama went to Jon Voight for his performances in the series Ray Donovan. I didn’t make any predictions for this particular Golden Globe Award. Robert Downey, Jr. presented the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, Actress. The five nominees were Amy Adams as Sydney Prosser in American Hustle, Julie Delpy as Celine Wallace in Before Midnight, Greta Gerwig as Frances Halladay in Frances Ha, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Eva in Enough Said, and Meryl Streep as Violet Weston in August: Osage County. My prediction was that the winner would be Meryl Streep, though Amy Adams was the actual winner. That brings me to 2 for 5 on my predictions. The Golden Globe for Best Performance in a Television Series, Drama, Actress category were Julianna Margulies as Alicia Florrick in The Good Wife, Tatiana Maslany as various characters in Orphan Black, Taylor Schilling as Piper Chapman in Orange is the New Black, Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope in Scandal, and Robin Wright as Claire Underwood in House of Cards. My pick was Kerry Washington, but the award went to Robin Wright for House of Cards. Now, I’m 2 for 6. Chris Frantz presented the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama, Musical or Comedy were Barkhad Abdi as Abduwali Muse in Captain Phillips, Daniel as Niki Lauda Bruhl in Rush, Bradley Cooper as Richie DiMasso in American Hustle, Michael Fassbender as Edwin Epps in 12 Years a Slave, and Jared Leto as Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club. I predicted that the winner would be Dee Bradley Cooper. The Golden Globe award went, instead, to Jared Leto. That brings my total to just 2 of 7 correct. Not doing so good with my prognostications tonight — blah — great show so far, though. The Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Sreenplay was next. I didn’t select a winner in this category. The Golden Globe award went to Spike Jonze for Her. The Golden Globe Award for Best Performance in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy, Actor, the nominees were Jason Bateman as Michael Bluth in Arrested Development, Don Cheadle as Marty Kaan in House of Lies, Michael J. Fox as Mike Henry in The Michael J. Fox Show, Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory, and Andy Samberg as Jake Peralta in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I said that Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory would be the winner. Instead, Andy Samberg won. My predictions now are at just 2 for 8. I’m sure the rest of my predictions will pan out, though…. The Golden Globe for the Best Foreign Language Film was another category I didn’t select a winner for. The movie which won was the Italian movie, The Great Beauty. Jimmy Fallon and Melissa McCarthy presented the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance in a Miniseries or Television Film, Actor, the nominees are Matt Damon as Scott Thorson in Behind the Candelabra, Michael Douglas as Liberace in Behind the Candelabra, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Louis Lester in Dancing on the Edge, Idris Elba as John Luther in Luther, and Al Pacino as Phil Spector in Phil Spector. I didn’t select a winner, but the winner was Michael Douglas. The Golden Globe for the Best Animated Featured Film were The Croods, Despicable Me 2, and Frozen. I predicted that the winner would be Despicable Me 2, just because it has so far made the most at the box office of these three animated flicks. However, Frozen won, bringing my total of correct predictions to just 2 of 9. The five nominees for the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy, Actress, are: Zooey Deschanel as Jessica “Jess” Day in New Girl, Lena Dunham as Hannah Norvath in Girls, Edie Falco as Jackie Peyton in Nurse Jackie, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Vice President Selina Meyer in Veep, and Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope in Parks and Recreation. They are all great choices, but I said that the winner would be Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Another prediction incorrect, as the actual winner was Amy Poehler for Parks and Recreation. It was her first win. I’m still stuck at making just 2 correct predictions — now, I’m 2 for 10. Emma Stone presented the special Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award for Best Director. She presented it to Woody Allen. We got to see some great clips from past Woody Allen movies, like Annie Hall, Play It Again, Sam, Take the Money and Run, The Purple Rose of Cairo, and Bananas. Diane Keaton (Annie Hall) also spoke about Woody Allen, and she accepted the award for him. She said she has known Allen for 45 years. Keaton even sang a song about being friends, as she considers him to be one of her best friends. Ben Affleck presented the Golden Globe Award for Best Director of a Motion Picture. I didn’t make a prediction, but the winner was Alphonso Cuaron for directing Gravity. Chris Evans and Uma Thurmon were the presenters of the the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series Musical or Comedy. The nominees were: The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Girls, Modern Family, and Parks and Recreation. While I really love Parks and Recreation, I said that the winner would be another favorite of mine, The Big Bang Theory. The Golden Globe went to Brooklyn Nine-Nine, though. I don’t think I will keep up with the few predictions that are left, as I am not doing well at all with them…. The five nominees for the Golden Globe Award Best Performance in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, Actor, were Christian Bale as Irving Rosenfeld in American Hustle, Bruce Dern as Woody Grant in Nebraska, Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street, Oscar Isaac as Llewyn Davis in Inside Llewyn Davis, and Joaquin Phoenix as Theodore Twombly in Her. This was a difficult choice for me, but I said that the winner would be Joaquin Phoenix. The Golden Globe went to Leonardo DiCaprio, though. Drew Barrymore presented the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. There were five films nominated: American Hustle, Her, Inside Llewyn Davis, Nebraska, and The Wolf of Wall Street. I said that this award would be won by American Hustle, and that is the movie which won. That brings my total correct predictions of the night to 3 — I’m on fire. Next, Leonardo DiCaprio presented the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance in a Motion Picture, Drama, Female. Sull’onda la Keller ha navigato felicemente ma senza mai tirare i remi sulla barca del successo, (il mercato librario non lo permette certo). Ed anzi i territori di lavoro della Keller si sono allargati ad iniziative «tangenti» la letteratura: festival, convegni, incontri, eccetera. Il tutto in nome di uno spazio di promozione - benemerita promozione - da offrire alla bella scrittura, (ma ancor piu alla significativa scrittura) da tutta Europa. Si, perche la caratteristica di Keller e la pubblicazione di autori stranieri, alla faccia del Trentino che si guarda troppo spesso l’ombelico senza accorgersi di restare ai margini.«Tanta letteratura da tutta Europa e anche reportage per raccontare il nostro tempo, le nostre vite – piu o meno reali –, il nostro mondo e alcuni degli eventi piu significativi degli ultimi anni. Il tutto in un piano editoriale che si muove a trecentosessanta gradi tra le scene letterarie piu interessanti»: questa la filosofia autopromozionale della Keller. Una filosofia che in questo 2014 neonato si materializzera nel progetto «Confini», un progetto ad amplissimo respiro che segnera i prossimi cinque, dicasi cinque, anni della casa editrice.«“Confini” - spiega l’editore roveretano - per raccontare il 2014 che attende i lettori della Keller, perche proprio a questo progetto appartiene il primo volume che si mandera in libreria». Trattasi di «Ai margini della ferita» dello scrittore sudtirolese di lingua tedesca Sepp Mall. L'ingresso nell'eta adulta, i primi amori, la passione per il calcio. Una sorella che protegge un fratello impreparato al mondo bello e crudele. Famiglie che tentano di resistere alla marea degli eventi. E sullo sfondo l’Alto Adige che vive la stagione degli attentati. L’intrigante, dunque, non manca. Il sentire di Confini attraversa le due collane della casa editrice, Vie e PassI, seminando alcuni titoli ogni anno, a partire dal 2014 e fino al 2018, che raccontino attraverso la letteratura internazionale il Primo conflitto mondiale e le sue conseguenze. La celebrazione della grande guerra sara un calderone di eventi dentro il quale non sara semplice distinguere qualita e furberie . Per sfuggire al rischio la Keller assicura pagine capaci di uno sguardo contemporaneo, centrato sulle conseguenze del conflitto che ancora pesano sui problemi irrisolti di oggi. «Il tutto - dice Keller - attraverso opere inedite, nuove, e alcune perle sconosciute o perse da molti anni. Purche Confini non tratta solo di memoria e storia ma di vita. Parla alla mente, al cuore e anche alla fantasia».A testimonianza - che spettera ovviamente ai lettori - Keller cita le pubblicazioni di questo primo anno di Confini: «Angeli dell'oblio» della scrittrice austriaco-slovena Maja Haderlap. Il romanzo – straordinario – giunto ormai a 12 edizioni si che si e aggiudicato l'importantissimo Ingeborg Bachmann Preis nel 2011, dove si affronta la storia del Novecento con uno sguardo al tema delle minoranze. A chiudere l'annata « Uomini in guerra» di Andreas Latzko, con una nuova traduzione dal tedesco di un romanzo ormai introvabile da molto tempo. Un atto di denuncia in sei episodi scritto da Andreas Latzko, ufficiale dell'esercito austroungarico proprio durante la Grande Guerra. Forse il primo romanzo di denuncia sugli orrori del conflitto. Il primo e «Febbre bianca», in cui il reporter Jacek Hugo-Bader che racconta la Russia e la Siberia di oggi attraversandola da solo a piedi, in canoa, a bordo di jeep e anche infiltrandosi e vivendo da vagabondo per raccontare cosa ne e oggi dell'Impero. Torna anche un altro autore Keller, Wojciech Tochman che continua a raccontare i luoghi della guerra una volta che i cronisti se ne sono andati e le popolazioni devono ritrovare pace e vita. E di queste «assenze» terribili il Ruanda e un teatro tragico e ignorato. Per quanto riguarda la narrativa il 2014 della Keller e una lente ancora piu a fuoco sull’internazionalita. Ci sara il romanzo del tedesco Jo Lendle «Alles Land», epopea ambientata nei ghiacci della Groenlandia a inizio Novecento sulle orme di Alfred Wegener, geologo ed esploratore tedesco che per primo formulo (accettata solo a morte avvenuta) la deriva dei continenti. Poi tre autrici per tre storie importanti. Sono Noelle Revaz con «Efina», una tumultuosa storia d'amore tra un famoso attore teatrale e Efina, una sua ammiratrice. Claudia Schreiber torna dopo il successo de «La felicita di Emma» con il nuovo romanzo «Dolce come le amaren», amore e crescita. Infine ecco Maria Cecilia Barbetta – scrittrice nata in Argentina ma che ora scrive in tedesco – e il suo scoppiettante «Sartoria Los Milagros». Tra i ritorni quello del polacco Hubert Klimko-Dobrzaniecki di cui la Keller tradurra il recente Bornholm Bornholm (titolo originale). Siamo in Germania all'inizio della Seconda guerra mondiale. Il protagonista non avrebbe mai potuto immaginare che la guerra portasse con se anche la possibilita di amare nuovamente. Torna pure il catalano Eduard Marquez – di cui Keller ha gia pubblicato «La decisione di Brandes »e «Il silenzio degli alberi » – che con la solita poesia e profondita conduce ne «L'ultimo giorno prima di domani». In un romanzo essenziale e in cui tutto ha il giusto peso e la giusta misura. Il narratore ricostruisce la propria storia partendo dalla morte della figlia. Un viaggio a ritroso nella propria infanzia e adolescenza, per ritrovare un posto nel mondo e affrontare cio che forse non aveva mai affrontato veramente. Insomma, in un «catalogo» che impressione per qualita e quantita l’editrice Keller si propone di continuare un percorso virtuoso di apertura d’orizzonti che pongono la casa editrice in una dimensione del tutto particolare. Una strada che si percorre ormai con la sicurezza di chi ha la certezza, (visti i riscontri), di giocare una partita culturale di tutto rispetto. KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) will launch a massive anti-privatisation movement after taking political parties and trade unions into confidence. JI chief Syed Munawar Hasan made the announcement while addressing a crowded press conference at Idara-e-Noor Haq here on Sunday. JI Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, Naib Ameers JI Karachi Muslim Pervez, Muzaffar Hashmi, Information Secretary Zahid Askari, General Secretary PASLU Zafar Khan, General Secretary PIACE Union Obaidullah and other leaders of trade unions were also present on the occasion. Speaking at the press conference, Munawar Hasan said that the JI has decided to take to the streets against the matter, adding that the party has evolved a strategy to initiate countrywide peaceful protests against the privatisation of national institutions. He said when the government has failed to fulfil its promises made before the election and has decided to privatise the national institutions for spreading corruption, unemployment and lawlessness. Hasan further informed that the government through a letter by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Yaseen Anwar to the IMF stated that a consensus has been made with all political parties and parliament to privatise the national institutions. “They misguided the IMF by telling a lie that the Council of Common Inertest (CCI) and all political parties have agreed upon for privatisation of national institutions”, JI Chief condemned. On the occasion, Hasan demanded that the issue of privatisation must be raised in Parliament and a committee should be formed to review the performance of privatised institutions. JI chief informed the media that a meeting of the representatives of all political parties and trade unions under the aegis of JI was to be scheduled on January 16, adding that a convention in this regard has already been conducted in Lahore in which all political parties and trade unions had agreed upon to initiate a joint struggle against privatisation of national institutions. Munawar Hasan termed the non-payment of salaries to the employees and unemployment “an act of state terrorism”, adding that it is one of the forms to ignite terrorism. Commenting on Musharraf trial, the JI chief said that it was imperative to support a judicial trial against the dictator till its conclusion, adding that the judiciary should adopt transparency in the treason case against former army chief. Replying to a question, Hasan said that Rangers should reveal political affiliations of the criminals being arrested during the operation. He further termed Karachi operation, a mere “decoration” and nothing more than that. Speaking at the occasion, JI Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeem said that the government wants to privatise 68 national institutions, out of which eight were running in profit. “The JI will continue its struggle against the privatisation and in the interest of the labourers of the country”, he confirmed.
